North Korea: Testing The Waters So Terrorists Don't Have To

According to The Mail , North Korea is advancing their militaristic posturing even further, by launching a long range missile toward the Hawaiian Islands on or about the 4th of July.

North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.

Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii’s main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.

Details of the launch came from the Japan’s best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.

This does not take into account any “updating” to said missile’s guidance systems, payload, design, and or modification to it’s fuel/fuel load. In the overall scheme of things 500 miles is not that much of a cushion. In any case, it would be a flagrant case of North Korea once again ignoring any overtures toward behaving like one might hope a civilized nation (or one wanting to become one) would act.

They have long thumbed their nose at the West, specifically the US and her Asian allies. Have been known to support terrorists and other rogue states, and show no signs of changing their tune now. Indeed, this gives all the “bad actors” of the world one more look at how the current administration (and Department of State) are going to react (if at all), beyond their usual empty rhetoric and polysyllable words.

Maybe Obama’s grand strategy is in preventing the barbarians at the gate from entering because they are immobilized due to uncontrollable fits of laughter. If so, he is well on his way to attempting that very thing.

WTF?? There was a time when if a rogue nation stated they were going to launch a missile towards the US, it was considered an act of war, and we would retaliate, FULL BORE!!!

Once again, the left has made us a paper tiger…

And once there was a time if a rogue nation captured or incarcerated personnel from and AMERICAN Embassy, that act would also be treated/considered an act of war. Sadly for well over 100 days, we did little or nothing.

Seems to me we had a Democrat in office back then too.

And I was part of the initial and follow on rescue exercise. My first flight in a C-130 was with Captain Rich Bakke as the co-pilot. I have a personal attachment to the things happening in NORK, and that’s because I’VE BEEN THERE when a “dictator” determined it was time to take on the sleeping tiger.

Too bad Obammy and his followers have turned us into a “paper” tiger…

And even worse for our allies. Sure wish they had a use for old fools like us. Then again, we may be “of use” sooner then we think.

And Aggie, for those of us who were not in quite the same areas of expertise as Jay, well, we were as frustrated as hell, trust me on that. As much as we all despised Carter, most of us knew he was -at best- a fool. The current resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is a downright menace. And if not evil in himself, readily surrounds himself with evil.

May Kim Jong Il suffer the ancient Chinese form of execution of slow dicing, AKA Death of a Thousand (Paper) Cuts 😉

Even a paper tiger can still be dangerous….
