“Let Me See Your Papers Please” …

… should be the hue and cry of every citizen when it comes to selecting, let alone electing, anyone to hold the office of President of the United States. That our nation allowed not one, but two, individuals to campaign, as their respective parties nominees, despite neither being natural born citizens, is to hold both parties suspect in their willingness to put politics and other priorities ahead of their respective obligations (legal or otherwise) toward the governing charter of the country, the Constitution.

I have posted before about this. And up to now, have always felt Obama was born in Hawaii. My bain of contention was both parents were not US Citizens and so, by its very definition, Obama could not be a “natural born” citizen. (Although he most certainly would qualify as native born, which is NOT the same thing.) It would seem over the past few months, there has been some who have voiced the President, was not born in Hawaii. Or at the very least, there is not one copy of the original birth certificate (As apposed to the Certificate of Live Birth, tossed out at every opportunity by those on the left, as the “very same thing”, which it is NOT.) to be had, from either hospital which presided over live births, at that time.

The new Governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, promised once he was elected, he would get to the bottom of this, producing the birth certificate, shutting up all the “doubting Thomas’s” out there, once and for all. Unfortunately for him, it would seem there might be more than a bit of credibility in former election official, Tim Adams assertion that no legitimate birth certificate (long form) exists.

Or so the following video would seem to indicate. Have a listen and see what you think.

Things do appear to be getting curiouser and curiouser.

You do know that Mike Evans has admitted to making this latest bit up about Obama’s birth certificate not being found by the new Hawaii Governor right? Evans is now telling all who will listen that he is sorry people got the wrong idea after the interview in your piece made the rounds in the gargantuan right-wing media hate machine? Is he really sorry? It is highly doubtful in my mind. He has gotten a great deal of exposure to the mindless hordes that consume the lies and idiocy pumped out by Limbaugh and FOX News.

Gov. Abercombie was quoted by the Chicago Tribune as saying, “What bothers me is that some people who should know better are trying to use this for political reasons,” he said. “Maybe I’m the only one in the country that could look you right in the eye right now and tell you, ‘I was here when that baby was born.'”
“It’s an insult to his mother and to his father, and I knew his mother and father; they were my friends, and I have an emotional interest in that,” Abercrombie told the Times. “It’s an emotional insult. It is disrespectful to the president; it is disrespectful to the office.

Here is what Evans had to say yesterday. “A celebrity journalist now claims he misspoke when he said last week that Hawaii’s governor told him he was unable to find President Barack Obama’s original birth certificate after a search of state and hospital archives.

Mike Evans told FoxNews.com on Wednesday he was remorseful and embarrassed that he appeared to have given the impression that he had discussed the search for Obama’s birth certificate with Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie.

Evans, who says he has been a close friend of Abercrombie since the 1980s, appeared on Minnesota’s KQRS radio last week and said he’d been told by the governor himself that Obama’s birth certificate was nowhere to be found. Evans told KQRS on Jan. 20:

“Yesterday, talking to Neil’s office, Neil says that he searched everywhere using his powers as governor ….. there is no Barack Obama birth certificate in Hawaii. Absolutely no proof at all that he was born in Hawaii.”

But that’s no longer Evans’ story.

“Only this I can you tell you is 100 percent fact: that Neil Abercrombie never told me there was no birth certificate,” Evans told Fox News. “I never talked to him.”

  2. Have just listened to the latest audio on this. Specifically, the Mike Evans recanting his “misspeaking” about “directly talking to the Governor”. Evans admits, that from what he has researched so far, neither hospital claims to have, on hand a valid copy of Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate, that it “doesn’t exist”.

The Governors statements about “being there at his (Obama’s) birth, have already been retracted by the Governor. And if you take the time to research it, there is no way he could have witnessed Barry playing t-ball at 5 years of age or so, the time lines as to where he (the Governor) and Obama were, at that point in time, do not jibe.

This whole thing should never have gotten as far as it did. Rather than stonewalling, and spending approximately a million dollars in trying to suppress the information from becoming public, why not produce the long form certificate, and be done with it. Certainly, it would shut up (and shut down) all those who suspect Obama is not legally entitled to hold the office of the Presidency. And give him that much more time and energy to use on subjects, ideas, and agendas nearer and dearer to his own heart.

Oh, and here is a link to the updated audio on the Mike Evans story. Pay particular attention to the last couple of minutes, I find that almost more interesting.

I started to feel sorry for Mike Evans towards the end of the interview you posted. After listening to the interview, I think that Evans may actually have misspoken in the original interview that sparked this whole thing. The interviewer in the piece you provided did begin to pound on Evans in regard to Gov. Abercrombie’s assertions in regard to being there when Obama was born. There is absolutely no question that Abercrombie and the Obamas knew each other at the time of Obama’s birth, but the Gov may have misspoken as well in regard to exact dates. In any event, NONE of the above has a direct bearing in the bizarre “birther’ movement in America. Obama was born in Hawaii and it seems evident that no amount of evidence will ever satisfy those that simply do not want to believe the facts. An excellent point by point debunking of “birther” nonsense can be found at:
    http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2009/08/05/birther_faq

I believe that there are infinitely more important and legitimate reasons to criticise and attack the ideas of President Obama than this nonsense. Let’s start discussing issues of real substance that will effect all of our families, friends and neighbors.

    Cheers!

  4. Enjoy your Kool-Aid, Vinnie. Try not to choke to death on that slight hint of almond flavoring. Obama MAY be native born, but he is not “NATURAL BORN”. Wherever it was that he was born, the fact remains his father was a British citizen. When it is finally heard that he is not that which is specifically required by the Constitution, any and all things which he has signed are no longer valid. They will not need to be repealed, they will simply be revoked.

  5. And then there’s the Indonesian adoption thing, but that’s for another time.

    • Blake, based purely on his fathers lack of citizenship, should be all we need. If it can be determined that a minor child involuntarily loses their citizenship, based on the actions of his or her parents, then I would willingly embrase his “status” (what ever it may have been) while he was in Indonesia. That he went to a madras for at least a couple of years, is of greater concern, especially at the impressionable age he was at during that time.

  7. Vinny, the Salon article you link do, does provide responses to a number of items regularly brought up by those who are suspect of Obama’s origins. And after reading said article, their “interpretation” of whether or not his father (Barack Obama Sr., if he is in fact Obama’s father) citizenship status, be it British subject, Kenyan national, or otherwise, does not prevent Obama Jr from “natural born citizen” status, is asinine. Bringing Chester Arthur into the mix as an example is also, in the context they are using it, off the mark. It was not until the last decade or so, it was finally determined that Arthur was not an American citizen, so how this could have any real bearing on his Presidency, at this point in time, is a moot point.

And the argument presented at Salon about the Certificate of Live Birth, is wrong as well. It is not, and never has been until the laws were recently changed acceptable for a number of purposes. This would include being a valid ID for passports. There is more then reasonable suspicion that the COLB which has made the rounds of the internet (and supposedly the real world) is in and of itself a forgery. Fonts, and other aspects not quite measuring up to what is really produced in a valid copy.

Finally, (and again) would it not have been prudent on Obama’s part to have released the long form birth certificate, or a copy of same which would have resided in his grade or high school records (and quite possibly college as well). That he has spent considerable time, monies, and energy on something which would have silenced all but the real tin foil hat types out there, creates more of a concern than there needs to be (Assuming there is really nothing to hide … and if their is, what would it be. The only thing which comes to mind, and this is assuming there IS a bona fade “long form Hawaiian birth certificate, is his father is NOT Obama Sr. or worse yet is listed as “unknown”. Ironically, if it is “unknown”, he would stand to have a better chance at being a natural born citizen, than as the way things stand now.)

And as a reminder, I was not for McCain (not exclusively) because of this as well. Congress may have passed a bit of mumbo-jumbo saying it was “okay” for him to run, but it had no real legal standing. Also as much as I like a number of things he has said and done, Bobby Jindal is NOT a natural born citizen, and thus is not legally entitled to assume the office of the President.

What is wrong for one side of the aisle to do, is equally wrong for the other.
