A Call to Arms

I was over at Liberty’s Torch Fran Porretto’s home on the web today. His most recent post is one which in today’s climate one might have considered asking “Do you really want to plant your flag on that hill?”

Ok, you might ask that question if you were a metro sexual left leaning weeny, followed by something along the lines of “Can’t we just get along?”

Rest assured, you won’t find anyone here asking that kinda thing…

Anyhow, back to the good Mr. Porretto’s post. I came away with a feeling that he has reached saturation IRT to the insipid followers and fellow travelers to the current administration. (And one assumes, with the current administration as well.) To that end he has fired full broadside on one of the same who happened to comment over at Breitbart Big Government. With his kind permission, it reads as fallows:

I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for.” – Howard Dean.

You are the enemy.
You are not benevolent.
Your first goal is to disarm us.
Your second goal is to eliminate privacy.
Your third goal is to criminalize our opinions.
You want power for yourselves, and nothing else.
You believe yourselves entitled to rule us absolutely.
You routinely wish for the deaths of conservative figures.
You would have us forcibly “re-educated,” if you could pull it off.
You are trying to destroy all remaining restraints on the federal government.
You’re doing everything you can to criminalize disagreement with your agenda.
You accuse your political opponents of every foul crime and motivation in the book.
And you do it with a contemptuous smirk that says “You can’t stop us no matter what you do.”

I tried to grant you the presumption of integrity.
I can’t. You’ve forfeited all claim to decency or benign purpose.
The only difference between you and the Communists of North Korea is your skin tone.
From here to the end of my life, I will do all in my power to have you seen for what you really are.
Not decent people with different opinions about what’s best, or what means are acceptable.
Not persons agonized over America’s residuum of violence, or poverty, or racism.
Not neighbors peacefully willing to agree to disagree with other Americans.
You are none of those things.
You are the enemy.
You are villains.

It is my belief that we have just been issued a “call to arms”. And I would have to agree with all that he said. My only thought is it fails to include just about every one else in the political arena. There are but a handful of folks who seek to see this country return to something akin to what the forefathers envisioned some 230 odd years ago. With all due respect Fran, ya only broadsided half the bastards.

And by all means go look at the original.  It strikes me (and others, in his comments) that the original layout looks very much like a pennant.  Perhaps someone with strong photoshop or gimp skills could fit the above into a pennant.  Might make for a dandy addition to one’s flag pole … right under the Gadsden flag.

It Ain’t Guns, Knives, Laws, or Proclamations Killing People

I am an old gamer.  Started playing the “pencil and paper” version of “Dungeons and Dragons” back in the early 80’s, and have been hooked ever since.  What does this have to do with the events of the past few years both nationally and world-wide (including the tragedy which took place in Connecticut, and more recently, Boston)?   Give me a second or two and I will try and explain.

One of the facets of  the “Dungeons and Dragons” (hereafter mentioned as “D&D”) universe is how it brakes down the moral/ethical standings of each character you might happen to develop.  Tow of these categories  specifically come into play when we look at what is going on around us, along with what has been taking place over (at least) the post 9/11 era:

Lawful Evil  Characters of this alignment see a well-ordered system as being easier to exploit, and show a combination of desirable and undesirable traits; while they usually obey their superiors and keep their word, they care nothing for the rights and freedoms of other individuals and are not averse to twisting the rules to work in their favor.

“But this comes from  a fantasy game, what in the wide, wide world of sports does this have to do with the real world?”

Glad you asked that Sparky, sometimes even games may provide insights as to what drives man to do what he  does.  So here are  a couple of examples to prove my point.

It is no secret, to those who happen to drop by here, that I am strongly opposed to Islam.  It is a malignancy which masks it’s true intent under the guise of “religion”.  And yes, there are most certainly good people who are  followers of the “faith”.  However, one would suspect they are doing so because of expediency, ignorance, or stupidity/naiveté …. what other reason could there be, assuming your nature was “good”  to begin with?

Anyhow, back to the point I am trying to make.  Islam is a beautiful example of what could (or should) be considered “Lawful Evil”.  There are specific rules, guidelines, and regulations which all are required to follow.  You may be able to “get away” with not following some of these, especially if you are in some position of power and or authority within the particular sect you adhere to, but if someone else is in a position to challenge you or has power over you, this may be called into play,  and your indiscretions  could cost you.

Perhaps an example a bit closer to home is in order.  Okay, how about the Senate and Congress, a large chunk of the Judicial, and most (if not all) of the Executive branch.  Yep, talking about the Federal Government.  Oh, and let”s  not forget about all the alphabet agencies and the government bureaucracy at large.   Much like the first example, there are some who are honestly trying to do “good”, or are “good people”, but more and more, logic dictates they would fall under the same categories as the so called “good Muslim”…. expedient, ignorant, or stupid/naive.  And yes, I am calling the government, as it stands (others would say it has been this way for quite some time, and they very well may not be wrong) , Lawful Evil.

The above are just two examples, done without breaking a sweat.  There are others.  Trade unions…hell, unions in general comes to mind, that meet the requirements for this brand of Evil.  I am sure you could think of more.

Now let’s look at;

Chaotic Evil  Characters of this alignment tend to have no respect for rules, other people’s lives, or anything but their own desires, which are typically selfish and cruel. They set a high value on personal freedom, but do not have any regard for the lives or freedom of other people.

Any serial killer, assassin,  or “crazed gunman”, up to and including Adam Lanza would fall into this category.  Arguably there could be a few heads of state here as well.  Here you will find the misfits, loners,  malcontents,  The Narcissist, (yeah, that Narcissist)   More importantly (though it may be  something only admitted to themselves.  In the darkness of the pit where their soul should have normally resided) they find some sort of perverse pleasure in seeing others brought to some level of physical or emotional pain.  It is random senseless Evil.  With no apparent logic or grand design behind it….Evil purely for the sake of evil.

The two alignments, may be easily used to “profile” most, if not all, of the horrific acts of violence which have gain national prominence over the course of the last 40-50 years.  You can take all the players involved and they (and or their groups) will fall under one of the above alignments.

Adam  Lanza: Chaotic Evil.

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev: Lawful Evil

Jeffrey Dahmer, John Gacy, Timothy McVeigh: all Chaotic Evil

Most of the current administration, cabinet members, the majority of the directors of the various alphabet agencies, and at least half of the members of SCOTUS: Lawful Evil.  (To be fair on this one, you should also include most of the members of both Houses, and a good chunk of all the above in almost all administrations going back at least 100 years.)

Which brings us to the title of tonight’s post.

It isn’t the availability of fire arms.  For, time and time again, those of an evil nature and or intent, will find a way to acquire same if they feel the need to do so.  Take away the firearms, knives, clubs, arrows, rocks and stones, would still be available, And failing that, there is always brute force.   No, guns are not the real concern here.

It isn’t the lack of (constitutionality of any and all of them put aside for the moment) laws.  We have more gun laws and “legal” restrictions placed upon us (you know, the law abiding folk) in the process of trying to procure same.  There are numerous  laws addressing potential abuse/violence, not only against individuals (women, gays, police, teachers, public officials) but groups as well.  Everything from “orders of protection”, to the added charges of “a hate crime”, and “aggravated ______”.   These will not stop those who are well and truly bent on carrying out their acts.

The same thing goes for all the  “drug free, gun free, smoke free, and any other “free zone” placed into effect via proclamation (and or law).  How many schools (at all levels) have been kept safe and secure purely on the basis of them being “gun free and or violence free zones”?  How many (especially at the upper echelons) constantly observe the “smoke free environment” of the office (or more informally, the campus) they are on?   And “drug free zones” in public schools (especially at any major metro school district)…you can not be that naive, can you?

It is not any of these things which are killing people. And none of the above, are in any great measure, preventing people from being killed.

It is the content and quality of the character of all the perpetrators which is the root cause. Character matters. Evil does exist. And the sooner people wake up and realize this, and take realistic action against same, then the first steps will have been taken to return our society and with any luck at all, our nation back into something our forefathers would not only recognize, but be proud to have given birth to.

Obama’s actions may justify a means to his end.

“The end justifies the means.”

How many times have we heard this particular phrase? How many times has the short and long-term results of this particular phrase, impacted you, your family, friends, community?

Granted, this type of behavior/action is not exclusive to the progressives, or their fellow travelers. There have been those, considered by many, to be on the more conservative bent, who have availed themselves of this notion. Unlike most of those of a more socialist nature, the right of center folks, when caught (as is usually the case) are soundly thrashed, by the government, their peers (on the other side of the aisle, of course), the media, and anyone else who so desires.

Think of Nixon…or more to the point Hunt, Liddy, et al, and a certain break in. We all know what happened to them. Now contrast this with Richard Daley (senior), the DNC, and the Kennedy camp. They all worked together, in one way or another, to insure Kennedy’s (JFK) path to the White House was a successful one. Chicago’s votes were crucial in locking in Illinois electoral votes. The votes were produced, one way or another. Yet crickets still chirp, instead of any hue and cry (long-delayed, or otherwise) over “voting irregularities”.

But those two examples are not nearly as damning as what we are dealing with now.

The seeds for our current state of affairs, were planted long ago. It could be argued this particular “philosophical thought” is but a negative part of human nature, beholding to no particular party or political idealism. This strikes me as being pretty close to the truth. However, it has always been used by those who are in a position of power, to either increase their power, or their control, over others. The last part often disguised as “knowing what is best for you (all)”, because we are, after all, smarter than you.

In modern times one only has to look at what took place under almost every President since (and including) FDR. This also holds true for both the House and Senate. But it is only within the past 20 years or so, up until the present day, this bit of verbiage, reached full bloom. To that end, it can be thought of as being “owned” by the progressives and their ilk, lock, stock, and barrel.

And so within the last three years, we have reaped the rewards of “the end justifying the means”.

We have a president (he does not warrant a “capital P”) who is not only unconstitutionally sitting in office (dual citizenship, regardless where he was born, does not count as being a “natural born citizen”), but one who has consistently worked at violating, not only his sworn oath of office, but the very document he was duty bound to uphold and defend…the United States Constitution.

His list of high crimes and misdemeanors is far too long (and growing … not only day by day, but in depth and scope) to be listed here. In any case, you could search the web and find countless references. Two items, stand out at the moment:

1. “Operation Fast and Furious” How much did the president know, and when did he know it? I suspect, as do others , at best, “in the loop” about what was going on. At worst, who knows?

2. While the Senates away, the jester will play. Though others have played fast and loose with the Constitution, none have, in recent memory, done so as blatantly as our current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

But of course, the ends justify the means.

The real question here should be … what “ends” is the Usurper-in-Chief trying to justify?

Consistant Fail.

My sweetieheart and I talk about the issues of the day, and other idiocy foisted upon us by the media and other talking heads out there. In the past day or so, we came to an interesting conclusion.

Every notable program or idea put out there by the progressives, environmental nut cases, and fellow travelers, has failed.

  • The Chevy Volt, promised to be the electric car of the future, here now! It failed on any number of levels. It also continues to fail at producing anything close to respectable sales.
  • The CFL lightbulb, the supposed cure-all to the venerable incandescent light bulb’s “environmental evils”, turns out to be quite the villan itself. And, as with the first item above, is one brightly lit fail.
  • Wind Powered Turbines. These are being increasingly touted as a practical answer to energy needs, instead of the traditional alternatives already in play. In theory, they sound like a very viable alternative form of energy., and to be fair, the newest versions for small business application, and residential use, are looking like a viable option in cutting the cost of the monthly utility bill. This is especially true if you are in an area which receives enough wind to make it viable. But the cost has come down considerably from where it used to be, making installation and start-up costs something which can be “paid off” in a matter of a few years (even less, if one takes into account any applicable tax incentives).
As far as large-scale “wind farms” and various off shoots go, that is another story. The companies which develop, manufacture, install, and maintain these arrays are considerably more upbeat and positive in their (no pun intended) spin, regarding noise levels, damage to birds (migratory and otherwise), and the long-term sustainability of their products.
For now, it’s a short-term “fail”, but may actually become a positive as more designs are tested, and the dynamics between wind farms and surrounding communities are worked out.
  • AGW/Global Cooling, and the associated Carbon Credits. We have been plagued with “mankind is going to kill itself off if it doesn’t change/mend its (evil)ways”, from almost the beginning of recorded history. But sticking to the last 60 years or so, we seemed to have reached a new level of intensity, insanity, or both. Starting with Rachel Carlson’s “Silent Spring” (a nice best-selling bit of propaganda if ever there was), followed by “The Population Bomb”, then numerous books and articles on “the coming ice-age”, “nuclear winter”, and most recently “Global Warming”, “Anthropogenic Global Warming” (a slightly more ‘refined’ version of GW), Carbon Credits (the modern-day equivalent to “Papal Indulgences”), and finally, a return to the meme of “global cooling”. It should be noted the latest versions, be it hot or cold, are falling under the guise of “Climate Change”. The reason for this is clear, even if the science is not, it gives its advocates latitude to change the direction we are heading toward at will (or whim). I would have provided links to this one, but there are so many sources for information, many of them fine upstanding bloggers (The good Mr. Alger at Baby Troll Blog for one.)

This is yet another in a long list of manufactured calamities and will always be right at the top of “epic fail”!

And on that note. I will close this session. Perhaps the few who drop by now and again will add a few more to the comments. Heaven knows, they are out there, and all of them are “fails”.

Three Faces of Evil

Many of us have been watching events unfold since the tragic shootings occurred out in Arizona. For the past couple of days I have been debating on whether or not I was going to say anything about this.

But after watching the following, things became a lot clearer. My own take follows after the video.

All I can say about the above, is thank you Scott, Steve, and Bill. You are all exactly on the mark with this one. Keep on fighting the good fight, take heart in knowing you are most assuredly NOT alone.

Frankly, up until now, nothing came readily to mind which either had not been said before, or said better, than my feeble bit of wordsmithing would be able to produce. There was also a number of concurrent forces at work when trying to take in what exactly was (and is) going on. All of this tends to muddy (intentionally or otherwise) what is really happening in the days and weeks after one crazed individual acted on what ever events were taking place in his own private hell.

First we have the reality of what happened. A lone, mentally unbalanced individual took to the streets, and when he felt ready, opened fire on a crowd of folks. Within the span of a few short minutes he had taken the lives of six people. A sitting US Congresswoman was also shot, and critically wounded. Amazingly, she is expected to live, although at this point her effecting a complete recovery is known but to her and God. The shooter is currently in custody.

It is suspected the young man is mentally unbalanced. To what degree and in what fashion or fashions would have to be addressed by someone with at least one degree in psychology. This ol’ retired Sailor would simply call him “fucking nuts” and be done with it. It has also been alleged this same young man was not acting out of character. That he was not the stereo-typical “Why he seemed so quiet.” or “He was always so polite, and always on time for his classes.”, kind of guy. Bits and pieces of information (not validated by myself) being reported, indicate he was a mental accident waiting to happen. It should also be noted, he had been known about in Law Enforcement circles, yet (for as of yet unexplained reasons) formal charges were never followed through on.

Secondly, there is the media (of all stripes) going after what legitimately would be considered a national story. “A Sitting US Congresswoman Was Shot in Arizona.” In and of itself, this is their job, to report on events such as these. You might not like the old adage of “If it bleeds, it leads.” but for the most part, that was true. So the media leaping into this with both feet (or, if you prefer, cloven hooves) was not unexpected. However, this is where one of the lines in the sand is supposed to hold these folks in check. The line of “fact checking” and “objectivity”. For what ever the reasons, these two little items, once a mainstay of (at least) the newsrooms of the print media and to a lesser extent, radio and television “reporting”, were not even given a “wink and a nod”. Those puppies were flat out ignored.

Sadly, this is nothing new, add to the mix, all the opinion pieces and editorials, and you have a perfect stew of inaccuracies, innuendo, lies, and liable. All aimed at … not the perpetrator of the events which transpired in Arizona … but at conservatives, “right-wing media pundits and talk show personalities”, and favorite agendas (gun control, “hate speech”, and the “fairness doctrine”, to name a few) which could be made to “dove tail” into their narrative. The stage was set, once “politics” and agendas were thrown into the fray (instead of focusing on the events and facts on hand), for the third ring of this three ringed circus to come into play.

The politicians.

At almost the same time as the media was espousing “their take” on what the “underlying causes” might be, in this “potential national crisis”; the politicians stepped in. Amazingly enough, they echoed what many in the media were saying. If someone was of a more cynical nature than I, you might even suspect the politicians and the media of being in bed with each other. To be fair, there was the “heartfelt remarks of consolation” to the families who had lost loved ones. And all expressed hope their fellow member of the federal legislature would recover from her grievous wounds. But once the perfunctory (or perhaps more properly stated, obligatory) statements were scarcely out of their mouths (or scrolled by on the tele-prompters), the attack in ernest, began.

Forgotten were the facts, ignored was the very civility being bemoaned as having been lost (by “the other side” of course). Instead of being mindful of the grief which at least six families were going through, and the anguish and anxiety a seventh family was dealing with while their loved one was fighting for her life, in the hospital, they all went and prayed at the alter of political expediency.

And so you have as the late Rod Serling would have said:

“Picture if you will. Before you on display, are three pictures … portraits of the same being. However each has a flavor uniquely its own. The first is a cacophony of garish colors, splattered without regard to any reasonable expectation of what might be considered normal. It violates the senses, in that just beyond the seeming chaos there is the fleeting view of something malignant, even diabolic, in nature. The second appears, at first blush, to be quite normal. A reasonable figure, dressed in current fashion of the day … but for the eyes … they are the windows to a non-existant soul. Or at least one which is no longer there, having been sold for access to Olympus or perhaps a seat at Caligula’s latest debauchery. And our final viewing. It is a mound, a mound of flesh. It is “seated” at a trough, in the act of consuming all which is placed before it. Much like the second painting, the eyes are black … empty … soulless. But whereas the second portrait paints a picture of one who has slipped into evil, perhaps duped into believing they were acting in good faith, to provide the people with access to “the truth”, the third portrait shows one who was always, in their heart of hearts, only interested in themselves and what could be gained for them at the expense of others. This evil was always there, it was only a matter of time.

And so fellow traveler, there you have it. Three faces of evil on display, for your viewing pleasure. React in any manner you so chose; avert your eyes, laugh and blithely (pretend) to ignore that which is so keenly in focus before you, or perhaps turn away in disgust and leave, hoping someone else, made of sterner stuff, will take a torch to this offensive display. But understand this; the three faces of evil will not go away unwillingly. Nor will they passively hang on the wall or reside on their easel. They will find their way to your homes, your businesses, your places of worship and recreation, they will make inroads in all of these, as they aspire to their real goal. Your hearts, your minds, your souls. They will not stop, until vanquished by the collective greater good of man, for they do not reside here in “The Twilight Zone”, but in the bright light of day, in the real world … your world. Ignore them at your peril.”

A Very Foamy Christmas

Felt the urge to do a compare and contrast between the “religion of peace” ™ ©  and what increasingly seems to be everyones favorite whipping boy, Christianity.  But my heart was not in it.  At this point one has to almost assume you either know in your heart, soul, and mind, which is far more deserving of humanities scorn.  And if you haven’t figured it out by now, no amount of reason, logic, and offerings of evidance is going to change your continued residency in a fantasy world of your own making… mind.

Soooo perhaps a bit of levity is what is really called for..  And who better to provide same but that lover of “creamy, creamy cheesecake, (and bagels)”.  Furry philosopher extraordinaire,   Foamy, the squirrel!!

And  for those who didn’t quite get it from the first one.  Here is another a bit more strident in his verve, but right on the money.  Enjoy!!

Oh what the hell!  Let’s make it a hat trick!

Liberal Questions

I found the following today while viewing the latest on my face book page. Actually, I don’t believe this is all that new, as it consists of liberal/progressive talking points, some of which have been around for at least a couple of years now. I offer it here today, not to see how much you can stomach before either tossing something at your screen, or tossing your cookies, but to see how many can easily take down each of these “complaints” with facts and reason.

YOU WANT TO GET MAD? We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, but now you get mad! You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President. You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy. You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted. You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.. You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war. You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq. You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people. You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans. You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden. You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed. You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown. You didn’t get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich. You didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides. You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and our debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark. You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans… oh hell no. AND NOW YOU’RE MAD !

It is apparent the liberal lemmings are in full attack mode IRT the “Tea Partiers”, along with those who, if not active in attending or supporting them, feel they are kindred spirits to same.

And I find I would actually agree on of the points of contention; the Walter Reed (and the VA in general) concerns. What brings that into a bit better focus, is NEITHER side had been trying to bring this to light until after there was some media action involving same.

And not taking sides, for the moment, are not all of the “examples” given above either out and out lies, distortions of the truth, or signs the system itself is in dire need of repair (from the grassroots up). There has been, at any given time, a history of human failings in our government. However, up until the current regime assumed power, it has never been this egregious, across the board, in all branches (save possibly the judicial), at all levels, regardless of party affiliation.

As for “Now we’re getting mad”? The current legislative bodies and occupiers of the executive branch are acting as the perfect catalyst, causing folks who would otherwise remain on the sidelines, doing their jobs, taking care of their families, living life day to day, to take a stand. They do not do so lightly. And talking points will do little, if anything, in causing them to back down.

The easiest answer, solution to the liberal/progressive “question” (yes those are scorn quotes) ; “And now your mad?”

Return our government to its constitutional roots. Return the Congress to being the “voice of the people”, and the Senate to being the deliberate body of State appointed (via the Governor’s of the States) representatives, it was supposed to be. Get rid of the “czars”. Get rid of the “Departments of ____________” (fill in the blank). Allow NO ONE (of any party) who fails to meet the Constitutional guidelines for the office they are holding, to reside in said office. You get the drift. Do this, and “we the people” will no longer be mad.

Aggie thinks "this" is too soft a response.*

But I think this would be as good a start as any in getting ALL the congresscritters, and senators attention.

Just have to make sure to have enough pitch and feathers on hand to get the whole job done!

*Remind me never to get her riled up if, the above is too timid.

100 Million reasons to change your vote.

Haven’t talked too much about health care here. There have been so many others out there with far better voices, that I felt the duplication wasn’t warranted. Yes, we all know this really isn’t about health care, or insurance. Rather it is about power. Control over “the masses”. Another of the many nails being driven into the American Experience, by those who would see even the slightest reference to what the founding fathers proposed and put forth some 234 some odd years ago, be done away with once and for all.

But surely there are enough Senators with at least some semblance of a conscience; some tattered remnant of moral fiber, who would – if only for their own self interest (and future electability) – vote against the monstrosity proposed by the Senate … isn’t there?

Well, not if Senator Reid has enough bribe money to toss around.

Guess if you are a Senator who claims to be “a moderate Democrat” from a southern state, you can be bought off, if the price is right!! Kind of like that old story allegedly dealing with George Bernard Shaw:

* GBS: Madam, would you sleep with me for a million pounds?
* Actress: My goodness, Well, I’d certainly think about it
* GBS: Would you sleep with me for a pound?
* Actress: Certainly not! What kind of woman do you think I am?!
* GBS: Madam, we’ve already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.

Now we know what she is, apparently all Reid is doing is establishing the price.
“The finest Senate and House money can buy!” Indeed.

A Guide to the Barbarians

The barbarians are well and truly inside the gates. They are in our midst, at all levels of society and government. They are a mix of all racial, ethnic, cultures, and genders. They are young and old. They are of a number of political points of view, and ideologies. They are even of differing religious viewpoints (or no religion at all). But they all want one thing at the end of the day, and that is the total and complete destruction of not only this country, but of Western civilization as we know it.

Let’s take a look at them.

The Liberal/Progressive:
They long for the state to take control of what would have been considered their responsibility(s), not so many years ago. Provide for ones safety in their home and at work … let the government do it via more laws/regulations and agents/agencies to police same. They want to be able to “do their own thing”, but have deep concerns/reservations about YOU being allowed to do the same (especially if it is in conflict with their own thoughts, ideas, or ways of doing things). In short, they want to be taken care of “from cradle to grave”, and the government is just the ticket for doing so.

The Socialist/Communist:
This is the “Liberal/Progressive” in their more advanced form. Though in some cases, they can be found to have bypassed the first stage altogether. They make no bones about the State taking care of you from cradle to grave. They also want the State to run (or have a major hand in running) every aspect of commerce and finance. When applicable they will control the spiritual aspects of ones life as well. This usually ends up with all forms of religion being outlawed or banned. The State is your God.

The Anarchist:
To be fair, there are a number of varieties of this particular species from the body politic. Not all are malignant. Some only wish to be “left alone”, unfettered by governmental intrusion. They have no desire to control the lives or livelihood of anyone else. This particular strain of Anarchist is not what we are addressing here.

No, the ones we seek are those who would seek to abolish all but the most local (tribal works here) of governance, with even that subject to (internal) monitoring. To that end of abolishing “the state” they will talk a great deal. The discussion usually consists of such phrases as “taking it to the man”, “down with the corporation”, and the occasional “Frodo Lives”. Usually, this group tends to co-exist at some level with another small but annoying group, The Eco-terrorist.

The Eco-Terrorist:
This bit of annoyance is similar to the malignant form(s) of the Anarchist. Indeed, many of their chants are the same. They will almost always be vegan, and will slam on their brakes (of their Prius or Yugo) in order to avoid hitting the tree rat crossing the road, ignoring the ten car pile-up they created, just behind them. Yet, have no concern in occupying a handicap parking spot in front of “Trader Joe’s”. If it were not for their ability to lay massive amounts of misplaced guilt on the “Liberals/Progressives”, thus getting some rather annoying legislation passed over the years, they would be little more than vegetarian Anarchists.

The Moderate:
Otherwise known as the fella who still has his mother picking up his underwear for him at Wal-Mart. The male moderate considers taking a date to the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, the height of risque entertainment. The moderate gal finds the Oprah book club to be the pinnacle of intellectual literary achievement. … Or than again, maybe not. The bottom line is, they can’t make a decision or a choice on their own. And if they do, it is of such little consequence as to be a moot point. On the rare occasion they eventually make a choice of some importance (at least to them), the amount of time and effort involved makes the final choice seem almost anti-climatic. Fence sitting to them is high art.

The Victim:
Another sub class of “Liberal/Progressive, but not restricted to them, as they can be found in almost all of the above groups. They are different from “real victims”, in that what ever caused them to be in this state or status, usually no longer exists. (Or exists in such small degree, they could shed the chains of victim hood much as one would break through paper chains.) Favorite rallying cries, in any argument (in which they are usually loosing) are; “racist”, “homophobe”, “misogynist”, “hater”, and the list goes on and on. It should be noted, without this sub group(s), the “Liberal/Progressives” would be very much smaller in size (and they know it).

A sub set of “The Moderate”, and even the “Liberal/Progressive” in some cases; the RINO uses camouflage to try and disguise their true nature. Much like the urbanite who frequents “Eddie-Bauer”, in order to appear more “rustic”, the RINO affects a more conservative posture on the outside, while harboring any number of liberal social or political stances on the inside. Easily removed from the political scene by having the base of the Republican party, in any given ward, district, or state, return it’s branch of the GOP to it’s original party platform (and planks).

This guide is just an introduction to the various critters out there. Feel free to add more “sightings” in the comments. As we gain greater knowledge of what exists out in the “Political Wild Kingdom”, we will better enable ourselves in finding ways to deal with those who pose the greatest concern.
